Gay street movie theatre
Previously operated by: Loew's Inc. Architects: Tignal Franklin Cox. It was rebuilt in to the plans of architect Frank Cox. The Staub Theatre stood directly across from the later Bijou Theatre q. It featured lacy wrought iron exterior balconies above the side walk much like those seen in New Orleans.

The Regal Riviera is located in the heart of Gay Street. The idea of opening a new downtown Knoxville movie theater came in the form of a downtown redevelopment plan drafted in under the watchful eyes of former Knoxville mayor Victor Ashe [11]. The following mayor was on the same page.

Tennessee Theatre present The Tennessee Theatre opened in as one of Knoxville's first-run movie theatres, as well as a venue for live performances. It ran continuously until the mids, when it intermittently remained opened. It received its first renovation and reopened in time for Knoxville's World's Fair in the early s.
